Chase and X

Posted by Picasa
okay, so i'm finally back to posting again! Sometimes things just get so busy that posting is the last thing I have time to do. (I'll probably post about 10 times to catch everyone up to date!) I hope everyone has enjoyed the kites! I've had a few people tell me that they are tired of seeing the kite pattern and they want something new! So be prepared...you'll be getting a lot of new stuff since I got so behind! ;) So far we have been doing wonderful in Oklahoma. The whole family really seems to like it here. I made this collage of X and Chase...two of the most important people in my life. These two are so much alike. Everything Daddy does, Chase has to be right there helping him out, and X loves every minute of it. If Daddy has his glasses on, Chase needs his. Chase loves to help daddy with yardwork and cleaning up the house. As you can see in some of the pictures, X is just as big of a kid as Chase is! It is really a lot of fun to see these two together. Their relationship has grown so much over this past year. I love the sweet moments when Chase is hurt and Daddy comforts him. These two crazy boys are what I live for. I have always said that I would be the one to be cursed with 6 boys all like X, and as much as I think I would go crazy, I would love it! There definately would NEVER be a dull moment in my life, because there really aren't too many of them now...and I only have X and one minature X right now!

Kite Pattern

Okay, so here goes. i had most of this typed up the other day and had to go run some errands, but wasn't quite done so i left it up...my little computer addict brother, Sam, decided it wasn't anything too important and clicked out of it! I've been too frustrated to come back and re-type it because it takes some thinking, but here goes! let me know if this makes any kind of sense or if i totally confuse you!

of course you will have to enlarge this when you draw it out to make your kite, but this is what it is supposed to look like!

the black is the outline of the kite, the green is craft sticks, and the red is the string.

supplies:
white garbage sack cut into half.

a lot of string, not as thin as thread, but not as thick as yarn.

a spool to wind the string on and let it out as you fly!

one stick, you can find them in the craft section at wal mart. they are the long sticks and you will cut two pieces into the length of your kite. get the thinnest stick...i think they are like 20 cents.

sharpies

streamers

scotch tape

okay here goes!

first you will take your garbage sack and cut it in half so you have two pieces.
then, draw an outline on your sack like in the picture and cut it out.
next, you will take your two sticks that are the length of the kite and tape them on at the top and the bottom, let the tape overlap to the back. you will want the sticks to match up with the points at the top and the corners down at the bottom.
then, you will take the string and tie it where it shows in the picture, make sure to knot it good! take the string out to the point on the side, you will tape this part of the string to your kite and stick to hold it in place. do this to both sides.
from the left side, let about 2 extra feet of string hang.
you will keep the right side connected to your string that will let your kite go higher.
next, take the string on the left side and hold it up and tie it to the string on the right side. the better your string is centered when you hold the string up, the better it will fly. make sure you tie a knot that will stay and not slip.
lastly, you can tape streamers to the bottom and decorate as you wish!
we had different pictures you could trace onto the kite and then the kids colored them.

oh and as a side note, it makes it easier to tape the corners of the kite down as you tape the sticks, string, and decorate!

so i think i did okay! let me know if i didn't make sense or if you have questions!

ENJOY!

Hurray for mommy!

Chase and I have been going to playgroup the past few weeks to get to know the kids and moms in our new ward. We have both really enjoyed it. There are 2 other ladies in our ward and their names are both Lacey, spelled the same way. One Lacey has a 2 year old boy that was born in June, and the other one has a 2 year old boy born in July, and my 2 year old boy was born in May. So all three boys are just a little bit apart and have fun playing together at playgroup. What a coincidence right? Three Lacey's and three 2 year olds...the world doesn't get any better than that! Today for playgroup we went to a park and made kites. This was way too much fun. The weather was perfect, not too hot and there was a nice breeze. The sky was clear and the sun was shining. Not only did Chase have a blast, I really enjoyed myself too. It was fun to visit with the other mom's and to also help Chase make something and then get to use it. There was a huge field that Chase and the other kids were running around in to fly their kites. And, of course, Chase was the only one who managed to nearly tangle his up with 2 other kids. But, it gets better...again, Chase was the only one to get his kite string out so long that it got tangled in two trees in the field that we were in and then preceeded to go clear across the parking lot and get tangled in another tree. When I saw this happen I was sad because he was having so much fun with it and there wasn't enough materials to make another one. Then, I got the bright idea to cut the string and retie it, so i did that. The kite fell into the parking lot and nearly got ran over, but I saved it in just the nick of time. =) Hurray for mom's right? Anyway, I was able to save the kite and we continued to play with it. We had a blast and when I can figure out how to get the pattern on here I will have to let ya'll know how to make these kites because they were perfect for little kids and so much fun. It would be a fun idea to make them at birthday parties or on Saturday afternoon. They are fairly simple too. Let me know if you're interested in them!

Spider-Man or Diego?

Chase has been potty training and you'd be surprised with the things that you can come up with to keep a little hyper man on the potty. Right now Chase is totally in to Spider-Man and Diego, and sometimes when he is a big boy on the potty he gets to talk to either of them. Today, after Chase took a BIG and i mean BIG poo poo in the potty, he got to talk to Spider-Man. He thinks it's the coolest thing and he gets too excited. It is fun to see him get so excited over that. So let me tell you how it actually happens...if you are in the bathroom downstairs and in my mom and dad's bathroom you can talk through the air vent. So, today mom was in her bathroom getting ready and she heard that Chase has just gone potty so she started talking as Spider-Man through the vent. Chase went and sat down and the floor and sat there and yelled to Spider-Man. It is just too cute.

A blessing.

This little man has been such a blessing in my life. He is such a mess and has so much personality. Every day he does something that makes my life worthwhile. He has such a sweet little heart, but yet is such a spitfire. Honestly, there is never a dull moment with him...not even when he sleeps because he moves constantly! Although there have been some hard times, I would not change a single thing that has happened in my life so far. Yeah, maybe I had him out of wedlock and I was young, but I know that those things happened for a reason. I wouldn't be where I am today or who I am today (and neither would x) if i didn't go through the things I went through. I am a better and stronger person because of this little man. He has helped me to understand the miracle of forgiveness. Because of him I have grown closer to my Heavenly Father and become stronger spiritually. He has made me want to make my family an eternal one and I can't wait for that day to come. Chase has taught me so much and has made me who I am today. Everyday I wake up to him I smile, even when I still want to sleep, because more often than not in the morning he utters the words "mommy, i need you." That just melts me to pieces. He makes all the messes and stresses worthwhile. I love him and honestly do not know where I would be without this little booger in my life! =)

Okay, one last post for the day...for one I have trouble placing my pictures and the text right...i do great on the draft but when i post it, it all goes retarded! so sorry about that...just bare with me as i try to figure this out!

also, how can such a sweet little boy with such a sweet face have so much spice and attitude? he truely knows how to talk back and get the right tone in his voice. one day he wasn't doing so great on the potty training and after changing underwear after underwear i got upset and said CHASE! are you supposed to pee pee in you pants and he gets a grin and shakes his head yes and goes yeeeep! and i was like no! chase! you're not supposed to pee pee in your pants, you're supposed to go pee pee in the potty and he proceeds to go ookaaay! sooww-weey! with a complete attitude! too funny...i just laughed. he also has a little attitude and likes to hit when he gets mad and the other day i asked him if he was supposed to hit mommy after a tantrum and he immediatly stops crying and gets his little devious grin on his face and giggles and goes yeeeep! and i know its bad but i just can't help but to laugh! what attitude this little monster has...when at the same time he can be the sweetest little thing and tell me "i ube you mommy" it just MELTS my heart!

Chase and Nate dogg!

Okay so I don't even know where to start to tell all about alisha's visit here! I can tell you one thing though, chase and nathan were buds from the minute they saw eachother! Chase was so happy to see sissy and nate dogg and his eyes just lit up when we saw them walking down the airport terminal. Nathan and Chase did have their differences though, and even though Chase is bigger little nate dogg had no problem standing up to him and fighting for what he wanted...nathan had no problem biting chase and seconds later chase would be running to me crying with bite marks on his arm...or back...oh well, it just makes him more tough...through the bites and tears and all they still played great together and had a blast. I had to include this picture of nate dogg...he just looks so sweet and innocent in this one! and chase...this is his big boy pose...he will be walking and just stop and put his hands on his hips like he is sooo big!

A favorite since we've been out here in Tulsa has been going to get concretes! They are probably the best ice cream i have ever had! It's sort of like a blast from sonic, but it is made with frozen custard instead of ice cream, which means that it is 100 times more thick and way more creamy than regular ice cream. Of course, we had to break alisha and nate dogg in and we took them to get some concretes and alisha said that a reese's blast (one of her favorites) will never be quite the same! And I must agree!

Another fun place we went was to a sandwich shop called Which 'Wich? It was really cool...you go in and grab a brown sack and mark on it what you want...alisha got 'the hula' which was ham pineapple and marinara sauce and then you can add whatever you want to on it. I just went with a basic club and it was delicious! After you mark what you want on your sandwich you take it to the counter and they hang it up on a clip and it goes down a line and is made for you, and when it was ready they call your name out for you to come get it...way good sandwiches! X, of course, put his name on his bag as Big Daddy and the workers got quite a kick out of it. For the kids they have a little section to sit in with mini chairs and tables and a big wall that you can put brown paper on and color on. This place had delicious food and was cute inside and was convenient to take the kids to!

more of there visit will be posted tomorrow! i dont want to tire you guys too much right now! =)

Wow! It has been a while since i have been on this and posted. the past little bit has been a bit hectic. we had alisha in town for a scrapbooking convention that was held here it tulsa and it was way too fun. we found out it is held here every year around the same time and so we are making plans for next year too! we took some fun classes, learned some new tricks and techniques, and also helped work to get ourselves some free stuff! =) it was fun to have nate dogg and lish here and it was sad when they had to go home...especially when chase didn't quite understand and would ask where nate dogg and sissy were. it broke my heart to tell him they wouldn't be here anymore, but hopefully it won't be too terribly long before we see them again! (when i can get pictures on my computer from when alisha and nate dogg were here, they'll be posted!)

i'm looking forward to next weekend we will have jarom and beth and my grandparents here for the byu v. tulsa university game! it will be fun to take them around town and introduce them to our favorite things out here!

On Saturday i cut 5 inches off my hair! i was a little nervous but i actually like it a lot. at first i wasn't so sure but i have figured out how to work it and its turned out cute the past couple of days! this picture isn't the best, but it gives you an idea of my new do! it's short and definately different, but it's fun to have a change and new look for a new start here in tulsa!

I hate to admit it but I believe that I have created a couch potato...chase LOVES to watch tv...a little too much. i must admit that sometimes it's nice to just plop him in front of the tv and have him be completely entertained so i can get things done (such as working on my blog...) he will always ask me to watch "tb" and his favorite show to watch is go, diego, go! and dora the explorer...that's what he asks for and occasionally he will let the wonderpets and the backyardigans be good enough. he is such a goober. he has a spiderman couch that we put down and he will just lounge on it and watch tv. sometimes you can even call his name and do all kinds of things to him and he won't even notice because he is so entranced by the "tb". oh, and aren't the boxer briefs too cute? =)
